The City of Refuge Church
The City of Refuge Church was established on November 21, 2011, in the quiet community of Bellemu, Bong County, as a beacon of hope and renewal. What began as a vision of faith soon became a living testimony of God’s love at work among His people.
Through the partnership of Touch The World Ministries (TTWM) and the Ken DeWitt family, working together with Liberia Mercy Partners (LMP), a home was built for children in desperate need of care and belonging. Just weeks later, Rev. Jackson and Mrs. Harriet Quenisear moved in with seven children, marking the beginning of a ministry that would touch hundreds of lives.
A month later, on January 12, 2012, blessings continued when a medical outreach team of 27 Americans and Liberians, led by Mr. Ken DeWitt, arrived to serve the surrounding communities. More than 700 people from Bong, Nimba, and even neighboring Guinea came for treatment, prayer, and hope. Five patients with critical conditions were transported to hospitals for surgery and healing.
Among those who came was Princess N. Kollie, a young girl who had been deeply hurt and rejected. She was welcomed into the City of Refuge family and became the first child from Bellemu to find a permanent home within the ministry. Her story became a living example of the church’s purpose: to restore dignity, faith, and family to those who have been forgotten.
Today, the City of Refuge Church continues to be a refuge for weary souls, proclaiming Christ through worship, teaching, and service. Its message remains simple and powerful: to know Christ and make Him known, one soul, one family, and one community at a time.
